Associate Software Engineer

Primary job responsibilities

• Participate on Docker and Atomic projects; integrate software application development and deployment workflows within Docker and Atomic and define structure of layered Docker images
• Be involved in Docker upstream development
• Provide guidance for building additional Docker images for existing projects
• Work with internal teams
• Support internal users and communicate with partners and communities by participating in discussions to clearly articulate features
• Contribute to the extension to the scope of certification
• Deliver on near-term deadlines while incrementally working toward longer-range visions

Required skills

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field; engineering or computer science background is preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be also considered
• 2+ years of systems programming experience on Linux and UNIX
• 1+ year(s) of application profiling, debugging, and analysis experience
• Development experience in Python or C
• Prior participation and active community member in open source software projects (e.g. Docker) is a significant advantage
• Demonstrated understanding of LXC, Docker, and similar container technologies
• Familiarity with system internals
• Experience with development using infrastructure tooling like Git, Gerrit, and Jenkins is preferred
• Familiarity with OpenShift is an advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creative, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and as part of a globally distributed team
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Customer-focused, with a commitment to product quality
