Business Research Associate
Job Description
The Corporate Executive Board is currently accepting applications for the Research Associate position.
Research teams support both the medium-term strategic and the
day-to-day tactical needs of global (member) organizations. The Research
teams plays a major role in satisfying and understanding members'
day-to-day information needs; Research Associates may help a Fortune 500
executive address issues such as creating a change management strategy
during crisis situations, identifying tactics to attract talent in
remote regions of the world, building a succession management plan for
the organization, or just help him get in touch with his counterpart in
another country.
The Research Associate answers specific questions in the form of
5-50 page strategy briefs. The Corporate Executive Board’s members
typically use these customized briefs to address important business
decisions and benchmarking efforts. As such, the Associate’s
contribution to the overall growth strategy for the Corporate Executive
Board is imperative.
Overall Job Purpose and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of Research Associates include the following:
- Conduct primary and secondary research related the tactical and strategic challenges of our members’ business functions.
- Research internal and external databases to compile literature packets, author executive summaries and write company case studies in response to members’ business challenges.
- Conduct telephone interviews with senior executives and industry experts to gain in-depth perspectives and reasoning behind the implementation of specific business practices, and compile reports.
- Arrange networking discussions between members and industry experts on topics of common interest
- Contribute to departmental and firm initiatives by strengthening relationships with existing members, building specific functional content expertise and creating innovative product offerings to the membership.
Research Associates undertake challenging research requests
submitted by our clientele/ membership of senior executives, as well as
internally sponsored proactive projects on emerging issues. The output
of the research effort typically takes the form of issue briefs,
original research surveys, and vendor profiles, completed within a 3-7
week timeframe. Researchers are expected to complete these projects to
the highest level of content accuracy, presentation, and timeliness.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Exceptional academic performance in top-tier graduate school
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for research, analysis and insight generation
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data
- Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for mastering research terrain
- Solid time management and multi-tasking abilities
- Demonstrated professionalism and maturity
- Prior research or business consulting experience is a plus
- 0-2 years experience
